The u11's took to the field against an inform
Wellington side. It was going to be a hard task for the colts but at least
the sun was shining. Liam won the toss and decided to bat first. The
seasoned partnership of Pip and Joseph opened up but runs were hard to come
by against a pacy Wellington attack. There was some fine defensive shots by
Joe and Pip. Pip managed to get the only boundary of the partnership with a
well hit pull shot.
Liam and Will then managed to get the runs
flowing with fine boundaries from both of them. They scored an impressive 21
runs between them. the best pair of the night. Charlie and Jack were not far
behind them with an equally impressive 20 runs with boundaries for both of
them. With Wellington sensing that Madeley were scoring runs easily they
introduced their pacy attack again. Matt and Brandon felt the full force of
this but they defended their wicket well.
Jack and Cameron were the last Madeley
pairing to take to the crease and with Wellington's bowlers having found
their line and length they made scoring runs very difficult. However Cameron
managed to hit a boundary to bring Madeley's innings to an end. Madeley
finished with 229 for 5 wickets.
Wellington's batsmen were equally impressive
with the bat as well as the ball. Madeley bowled and fielded well, but they
were up against probably one the best teams in the league. Jack S, Charlie,
Will and Cameron all managed to take wickets with the other wicket coming
from a great bit of fielding leaving Wellington's batsman short of the
crease as the bails flew off the wickets. Even after Madeleys valiant
efforts with the ball Wellington took the victory with an impressive 328 for
6 wickets.
Madeley played this game with true spirit and a
lot of effort. well done lads.
