After losing to Shifnal the previous week in a cup game, Madeley somewhat surprisingly turned the tables and turned a 4 - 2 defeat
into a 4 - 1 victory. The game was determined by chances being converted by one team and scorned by the other.
By half time the score was 3 - 0 with Madeley accepting most of their opportunities. Andy Pugh got the Cricket Club off to a good start
and this was followed by goals from Steve Faux and one on the stroke of half time from Steve Pugh. The second half followed a similar pattern with Shifnal unable to convert
their chances. Eventually the score became 4 - 0 when a penalty was awarded and John Fawcett stepped up to slot the ball home.
A few minutes from time saw Shifnal eventually get the ball in the net for their consolation goal.
Mallard v Madeley 12th November 2006
A somewhat depleted Madeley team managed a draw in this Sunday league clash. It was a poor performance and if things don't
improve it will be a long winter. The only chance came in the first half when Andy Pugh beat the offside trap and raced down the right
before crossing to Richy Weaver at the far post. A goal seemed inevitable
but somehow the ball found it's way to hit the post and Mallard
eventually cleared the danger.
Bulls Head v Madeley 22nd October 2006
Madeley achieved another hard earned success at the Bulls Head but would have found things a lot easier if some of the their
chances had been converted. It all started so brightly as they went one up in the first few minutes when Dean Gardiner was fouled
in the area and the spot kick was awarded. John Fawcett once again stepped up to convert his third penalty in as many matches.
This time
however it was a bit close for comfort with the ball going in off the post. Madeley didn't have it all their own way as the Bulls Head
created several good positions but let themselves down by not really testing the keeper. Good opportunities came and went for Madeley and
it was only with about 5 minutes to go that they increased their lead. The Bulls Head keeper made a complete hash of a goal kick, only succeeding
in kicking it straight to Andy Pugh who then, not for the first time took it around the keeper. This time however he had time to spare and rolled the
ball into an empty net. This was a good 2 points but not particularly a good game.
Madeley CC v Unicorn 15th October 2006
Madeley's first success of the season came in a keenly contested game against Unicorn. Steve Pugh opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes and the scored remained
the same for the rest of the first half although other chances did go begging. In the second half Madeley were
made to pay for their missed chances when the opposition scored with a tremendous free kick which absolutely
flew into the far top corner of the net. The result was now in some doubt until Madeley were awarded a penalty when Steve Pugh was fouled in the area. John Fawcett
stepped up and calmly put the ball in the net. More chances went begging as the crossbar was hit three times. Eventually Madeley got their third with a gem of a finish,
Steve Faux scoring with a scissor kick volley from a deep cross.

St.Georges v Madeley CC 9 April 2006
With goals a priority Madeley sent 10 man St.Georges crashing to a 16 - 0 defeat.
Goals just flowed throughout the game and at half time the score was 7-
0 For the first 15 mins of the second half it looked like the
Cricket Club were going to fritter the chances away but then the goals
came in abundance. At 13-0 St.Georges lost another player to a red card
and worse was to follow when at 14 - 0 another red card was shown. The
highlight of the second half was possibly John Fawcett moving up close
to the halfway line to try and catch the 8 men offside, only to turn
around and see Tom Shepherd still on the edge of his penalty area!
Madeley continued their
winning ways with an emphatic 11-0 defeat of Wrockwardine Village. In a
one sided game Madeley scored from their first corner after just a
couple of minutes. However further goals didn't arrive until nearer half
time. In the second half it was just about one way traffic although the
mud did prevent Wrockwardine getting a consolation goal. Although the
final score was 11-0 it could have been many more.
Madeley CC beat Bulls Head 2 - 0 in a top of the table clash. The game
was played at Harper Adams due to Bulls Head's normal pitch being unplayable. In a close game Madeley went ahead early
with Joe Bates bundling the ball
into the net following a corner. Chances went a begging for both sides for the rest of the first half. In the first 5 minutes of the
second half Madeley
had numerous chances to sew the game up but failed to convert any of them. Eventually Andy Pugh rounded the keeper before putting
the ball in the net to make it 2 - 0. Further chances were had at both ends but the final score remained
the same.
