2nd X1 v Reman Services 13th
September
2008
Report from Chris Hodson
This week Madeley 2nd X1 entertained the 2nd X1
league winners Reman Services.
The wicket was wet and the outfield wetter and it
is all credit to the effort of Loll and Steve Maden that the game was played
at all.
In keeping with this season Oddy lost the toss and
was invited to bat. We got off to a good start with some big shots
played by Woody who worked hard for his 32 runs. With wickets falling regular
no partnerships really happened. Madeley finshed on 125 with Face 44 and Rodders 18
the main contributors. The innings ended after only 36 overs and we were
probably 30 - 40 runs short considering the start we had.
Reman started slowly and with Rodders taking 2
quick wickets and Lee "Dudley's Steve Maden" Bowen taking another wicket Reman
were 11 - 3. The last recognised batters were at the wicket but unfortunatly
no more wickets fell. Madeley threw everything they had at Reman without
any success and Reman completed the chase only losing the three quick wickets
mentioned earlier.
It has to be said that Reman batters who were not
out at the end batted very well and congratulations go to the Reman club for
winning both the First X1 and Second X1 leagues.
Quatt next week and we have a theme weekend of
LOUD SHIRTS so all please wear your shirt with pride.
A disco is planned next week so keep the night
free and come along to the club for the last night celebrations.
