2nd X1 v Quatt 20th
September
2008
Report from Chris Hodson
Our last game of the season saw us head off to
Quatt for a nothing game really as we could not climb up the league or drop down
should the result go against us. A new look team once again due to severe
unavailability saw Rob Dunn yes Rod's dad have a game, as well as young Callum
Hodson both made their second team debut's, special thanks to both players for
helping out.
In keeping with the season Oddy once again lost the
toss and we were invited to bat on a sticky and very green wicket. Oggy and
Lee Allen made a good start before Oggy was bowled by one that swung and with
Sam also falling cheaply we were 30 odd for 2 when the skip joined Lee. They put
together a stand of 65 and with regular contributions from all down the order
we reached our target of 140 - 9 off 45 overs. Lee Allen and Oddy both scoring 41
with Oddy remaining not out.
Quatt's reply was blighted by Lee Bowen having a
great day with the ball. He took the first 5 wickets to fall all being bowled,
with middle wicket often taken out of the ground. It was a great spell and it
resulted in Lee taking his first five wicket haul for the second's. Quatt were
never really in the hunt for the win with wickets falling regular and with Oddy
collecting two wickets, Sam and Rodney 1 each Quatt finished on 106 -
9.
Harry Thomas bowled one over and it was excellent,
beating the bat 5 out of 6 balls and looks an excellent prospect for next
year.
Many Thanks from the skip to all who have played
this year and if we can get availability right next year we have the strength to
fight for the league title again.
Thanks again to Shreck and Glen for all your
help.
Hope to see you all next year
