Madeley this week entertained Quatt in a must win
game to ensure we maintained our position in the table and not fall further
behind the league leaders. The new covers had done the trick and despite
overnight rain the track at Madeley was still dry and had plenty of bounce.
Madeley's Skipper won the toss and invited our visitors to first use of a good
looking track where surely 200 - 225 was a par score. Sam Norman and Chris
Hodson opened the bowling and shared the first 7 wickets to fall and to be
honest Quatt were never in the hunt to set a decent enough total to test the
home side out. Oddy finished with 4 - 27 off his 15 overs and Sam finished
with 3 - 36 off 11 overs and with Harmish Dayal and Sean Rigby mopping up the
tail Quatt's total was only 109.
Madeley's reply did not get off to a good start
with Steve Maden and Woody both back in the hutch with only 17 on the board,
Oddy and Pete the Greek took the score to 50 when Oddy was well caught and
with Joe Dawes falling cheaply a wobble could have be on. Pete the Greek
batted well after a few early scares and when he fell for 36 Madeley were
approx 30 runs short but Ben Bates and Sean Rigby settled the game with a few
big hits and saw us over the line with more than 20 overs left in the game.
Sean Rigby later informed us all that he had
played with a BROKEN LEG so well done a good performance mate.
Madeley 20 points Quatt 2 points
Ludlow at home next week.
