Ludlow won the toss and it was no surprise to find Madeley being asked to bat first on a very damp wicket.

At this point John Fawcett came to the wicket and he was to play one of his better innings for Madeley. He was still there at the end and completed a well deserved fifty off the last ball.
With good support from Steve Maden 23 and Shaun Rigby 7 not out, the score had reached a very respectable 136 for 8 at the end of the 50 overs

Wickets continued to fall with all bowlers chipping in. Shaun Rigby took a couple of sharp catches. Terry and the skipper shared 6 wickets, Steve Jones took a couple and Rodney Dunn mopped up the last man.
