This week Madeley entertained Shelton who were
sitting pretty in second place in the league after coming into some form in
recent weeks. For a change the skipper won the toss and invited our visitors to
fist use of a wet and green track which was no surprise after all the rain the
county had received over the past week. Shelton in fairness looked as though
they had never batted on a wet track before and were soon in trouble due to some
fine bowling from Lee Bowen and Kieran Richards who shared most of the 9 wickets
to fall as our visitors only had 10 men with one supporter who must have retired
only last week as he had played most of the games this season.
Lee Bowen bowled well and with plenty of help from the
track with the odd one popping picked up figures of 4 - 11 from 13 overs.
Madeley's reply could have caved in when Andy Lloyd
and Lee Allen fell cheaply leaving us on 8 - 2 on a track still helping the
bowlers considerably, Chris Hodson and Ben Bates saw the home team home with Ben
finishing on 28 not out and our skipper on 17 not out. The runs were knocked off
in just over 25 overs and batting was not easy so well done to both batters for
working hard and digging in for the victory.
Madeley's next game is NEXT SUNDAY due to Welshpool
have some canoe festival on their ground so come along and watch the first next
Saturday I am sure they would like to see us all supporting them.
Madeley 20 points Shelton 1 point
