2nd X1 v Wem 12h August 2006
Madeley entertained Wem on Saturday and after
winning the toss decided to bat first. This looked a good decision when at 42
without loss we were going along quite nicely.
Then in the space of 7 overs we were reduced to 56 - 5 and
struggling, the only positives were the fighting spirit of Oggy and Rodney who
put together a partnership until eventually we were all out for 121 maybe 100
short.
Madeley battled hard in the field and together with some
good tight bowling prolonged the agony of defeat.
However Wem eventually completed their run chase for the
loss of three wickets and collected their 20 points which will help them in the
race for the title.
Madeley 2nd eleven had a bad day at the office and
must work harder next week when they face Oswestry who are top of the
league.
